Know the truth about your situation before anyone else can tell you! - From scene one Olivia knew her options and how the press and White House would treat her and that's why Pappy Pope's horrible idea started to sound pretty good... In business you must be honest with yourself about EVERY situation so you can make the best decision. If you are delusional or unclear that will cloud your judgement and ultimately affect your success....

Hello Tastemakers!
We all know the warning to be careful about "the company you keep!" It is how people judge you and determine your character and unfortunately your potential. I want to encourage you this week to take an assessment of your friends and business associates. Measure how they have benefited you and your business and what you have or can provide to them. Its not to tell you to make drastic life changes but to encourage you to make sure that you have provided to yourself a safe, positive, and healthy environment for your business to grow and develop. A healthy environment includes honest, encouraging, and challenging mentors that are in the field that you want to be in or something similar. It also includes friends or associates that are higher or more accomplished in one or more areas in business than yourself. Be careful that you are not the smartest, most accomplished, most innovative person in your circle because that causes stagnation and lack. Then you need those people that are not competition or even in business but rather have sound advice and a great listening ear. You always need someone outside of the business world who can tell you if something makes sense or not.
So now what? You've assessed your circle and realized you're missing a key few people. Fear not! Get yourself out there and find who you're looking for! Be prepared to open up to new people and ideas that can help fuel you into the best version of yourself and your business. Go to some free networking events in the area or in your industry. Post something interesting on Twitter or in a Linkedin and start building new relationships. Pass out your cards or join an organization. The opportunities are endless and you can do it!

Hey C-Level Leaders!
I love working in the coaching industry because just as much as you teach to your clients you can also learn from their experiences. I recently had a very challenging conversation with a client and we discovered that her inability to have a healthy home life was restricting her ability to progress in her industry. It is so easy as an business leader to get too narrowly focused just on being successful at work that you forget how to have a healthy work = life balance or as the new trend calls it a fully "integrated" life. If there is no peace, love, and growth in your family/home you will be distracted and even derailed on your career path. Home is where you should be able to rest, rejuvenate, create, dream, and "be off." Without these options you will easily become frustrated and eventually burn out. But a happy home life takes work! Yes, after you leave "work" you still have to do "work." But this work should fulfill you in ways that you career cannot. This home "work" (lol!) will create for you a lifetime of happiness and love that can outlast any job, company, or success. With a supportive family you can conquer the world! When you find creative and unique ways to make your family/home life healthy/happy and your business life healthy/happy and you will be even more successful!

Hello Business Movers and Shakers!
Have you ever seen a really bad photo of someone and it just completely changed your view of them? For example, the string of "unflattering" photos that came out after Beyonce's dynamic Super Bowl halftime performance made me think differently about the Grammy winner. Despite all the efforts of her publicist the photos did make me look Beyonce differently. Seeing that she can make an "ugly" face or have a bit of jiggle like the rest of us made me see her less as the "perfect" icon and more as human. And I love her even more for it! While your image is so important to you successfully portraying who you are and what you can provide aka "branding." It's important to still take a balanced, more human approach to your image as well. One thing I tell my clients when preparing for a photo shoot for their brand is to consider what is the message you want and need to portray. For example, if you're a stylist although you may want to portray fierce (like Sasha herself!) you still need to appear approachable and down to earth. Make sure to take a variety of photos to tell the best narrative of you that you give!
Although we live in an image conscience society never be afraid to still be human. You might even gain more fans!

Hello Business Peeps!
Hope you had a great and innovative week! On thing I've tried to do this week is really expand my mind and thinking to new ideas and trends in the business world. If you're not growing you're dying! Its so easy to get stuck and stagnant in our very busy world but YOU MUST MAKE TIME TO GROW! I tell my clients set aside an hour each week to engross yourself in your field or the area that you want to be in. The more you know, the more you grow!
One of my favorite places to get information is Harvard Business Review's Blog! It has innovative and quality information. But don't limit yourself to one medium or media! Try finding a YouTube channel that interests you or a new television program. The opportunities are endless but the responsibility is yours!
Until next time....
